The scammer then tries to get in contact with the respective target group. <BR><BR> Once an online friendship with the uninformed victim is established, the scammer will start to be as charming and wonderful as he or she can be, making the victim want to meet them or fall in love. Another one is establishing trusted friendships and start to tell lies about emergencies that apparently happened which led to a situation where the betrayer urgently needs a large amount of money. The third type of scammers includes the ones that are actually real people who are desperately trying to sell their low quality products or offer their services which are ridiculously overpriced. <BR><BR> Most of the online dating sites and websites where scammers often appear are fighting against them by all means. They warn their users and establish warning features where members can report scammers as soon as they spot them. That means if they suspect a member of being a scammer they are able to click a button or write an email to the providers of the site. <BR><BR> Members can do the following to protect themselves from scammers: never give out too much personal information like private e-mail address, last name or address; to be very alert at all times and not believe stories that sound too good to be true; never respond to unprofessional looking commercial spam mails with cheap and useless offers or questionable content; immediately stop talking and don t even establish contact to people who want money or credit card details online.
